On this year the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ hitmaker has been named the Latin Recording Academy’s Person.

Award at the Latin Grammys in Las Vegas a day before November 9 will be presented during a special gala.

Lastly trophy has been awarded to Carlos Santana, Gloria Estefan, Julio Iglesias and Ricky Martin.

Contactmusic quoted the singer as saying, “It is truly an honour to be in the company of some of the greatest artists and legends of Latin Music”.

Latin Recording Academy President Gabriel Abaroa, Jr. stated, “We are honoured to pay homage to this dynamic, socially conscious woman whose illustrious career has touched so many people around the world, both musically and personally.”

Shakira is also nominated at the ceremony for three awards, including album of the year for ‘Sale el Sol’.
